VISION OF INDIA

Our Story

‘VISION OF INDIA’ is a registered society formed to create awareness among rural people and to integrate them in the mainstream. Our initial aim is to achieve self-sufficiency in villages through an integrated rural development programme.

The vision of self sufficiency begins with involving the rural people in making the projects work instead of bringing in social workers from outside. For all the projects, people from within the community are trained and motivated onto self-sustaining programmes.

SOME OF THE MAJOR THRUST AREAS ARE:

BASIC EDUCATION:
Vision of India works with government agencies to strengthen the already existing facilities in the village and additional facilities are provided only if needed. The aim is that each child has access to basic education.

BASIC AND PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE:
At present, doctors from the nearby urban areas visit the village regularly and conduct mini medical camps. Information about need for preventive health care is provided to the people. Sometimes they are brought to cities for specialised treatment. In future, each village or a village cluster will have a clinic run by qualified doctors to meet their needs. The aim is to have the rural people trained and able to run these clinics themselves.

DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL ARTS AND CRAFTS:
Rural India has a treasure of arts and crafts and efforts are being made to revive them. Avenues are created to generate income from these and bring awareness within the country and overseas. The aim is to popularise local crafts and make them income generating.

ENHANCEMENT OF LOCAL CULTURAL HERITAGE:
This is to popularise and bring attention to the rich heritage of our country. It is then going to be turned into a tourist attraction to generate income. Performing arts are being popularised again with the intention of generating income. The aim is to inculcate pride and dignity in what we have.

DEVELOPMENT OF SPORTS FACILITIES AND TRAINING:
The strength of India lies in its rural areas. Special attention is being paid to sports to bring discipline into the lives of youth. It has been seen that with some dietary regulations and training, the rural youth have an immense potential to become world class sports persons. The aim is to bring the rural youth to the international sports arena.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING:
The youth and the elderly are being given vocational and technical training so that they are able to find employment. With a number of industries opening up to the undeveloped areas, the local people are being trained to find employment in these industries. The aim is to have the unemployed youth and the elderly to be productive members of society.

AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT:
In the last few years, land available for agriculture has reduced substantially. A number of villages have lost their only source of income. Vision of India is working in this area by providing inputs on how to increase the yield from land, bringing in newer technologies and equipment and creating awareness amongst the farmers. The aim is to increase agricultural output and motivate the farmers to continue with their work.
